Diabase sculpture by Robert Neuhauser, Switzerland circa 1985
REF: 7933
Diabase sculpture, black volcanic stone, by Robert Neuhauser, made in Switzerland, circa 1985.
Compact in scale, the piece consists of a monolithic volume with rounded edges, hollowed at its center. The polished surface reveals a dense and deep mineral structure characteristic of diabase.
Its balance and contained presence relate to the body of stone sculptures developed by the artist in the late 1980s, notably presented in the exhibition Arbeiten in Stein at Galerie Sigristenkeller, Bülach, in 1989.
Robert Neuhauser, born in Altnau, initially worked with wood before expanding his practice to materials such as stone, bronze, and aerated concrete. His works are defined by soft lines and a strong bodily presence.
Switzerland, circa 1985.
