REF: 7939
Sandstone sculpture by Robert Neuhauser, made in Switzerland in the mid-1980s.
Developed horizontally, the piece is structured around an elongated volume with softened contours, crossed by a carved line that organizes the surface. This incision introduces a subtle tension within an otherwise fluid and continuous form.
The modeling evokes an almost bodily presence, characteristic of the artist's work, oscillating between abstraction and organic suggestion. The softness of the transitions and the absence of sharp edges reinforce this sensation.
The stone, with its subtly nuanced pink tones, captures the light and highlights the variations of the surface. The carving remains intentionally restrained, allowing material and form to interact freely.
This work belongs to the group of stone sculptures presented by Neuhauser in the late 1980s, notably during the exhibition Arbeiten in Stein at Galerie Sigristenkeller, Bülach, in 1989.
Robert Neuhauser, born in Altnau, developed a practice centered on form and material, working across wood, stone, bronze and concrete.
