Aerated concrete sculpture by Robert Neuhauser, Switzerland 1980s
REF: 7936
Aerated concrete sculpture by Robert Neuhauser, made in Switzerland in the mid-1980s.
Composed of a monolithic volume carved with recesses and sharp edges, the piece introduces a more angular geometry compared to the artist's stone or bronze works. Sloped planes and defined cuts create a tension between balance and instability.
The slightly granular surface of the aerated concrete, with its fine inclusions, contrasts with the precision of the carving. This raw materiality reinforces the experimental dimension of the work.
The sculpture relates to Neuhauser's exploration of various materials, notably presented during the exhibition Arbeiten in Stein at Galerie Sigristenkeller, Bülach, in 1989.
Robert Neuhauser, born in Altnau, developed a sculptural practice across wood, stone, bronze and concrete, with a consistent focus on form and perception.
