These substantial pieces are circular in form with a deep bowl and display a shaped rim decorated with lobing.  Each stands on paw feet with very finely detailed lion mask mouldings where they are attached to the main body, the features being very crisp and the surface textured to simulate the fur of the lion.  The sides also display raised floral and foliate garlands, again very detailed and including roses.  The bowls display their original gilding and the bases are very well marked and also include the pattern number, 216, and the retailers mark of “STORR & MORTIMER”.  These are some of the finest Salt Cellars we have ever offered from the Storr Workshops.
