"Downland is a pared-back response to the Dorset landscape where I live.
The fields, fences and distant skyline have been reduced to simple, colourful shapes, stripping the landscape back to its essential forms. Rather than describing a particular view, the painting captures the structure and rhythm of the downland around me.
Painted on a small piece of cardboard, the work is intimate in scale but rooted in the expansive landscape that surrounds my home."
