Landscape forms with red sun
Landscape forms with red sun
The subject of this strongly composed and evocative work, painted in Bird's early twenties, is perhaps somewhat ambiguous, but with an applied red sun is more likely a landscape than a still life. It clearly shows the influence of Neo-Romantic artists such as Graham Sutherland and John Craxton.
