This is the first time we have seen a set of egg cups with detachable stands and very much think that they were a special commission. Each egg cup has a pedestal foot decorated with a reeded band and the vase shaped bowl is engraved with the Prince of Wales feathers issuing from a Ducal Coronet. The side of the cup displays a clear set of hallmarks and the interior is palely gilded. Each has a circular stand, with raised edge, decorated with reeding and displaying a central raised section to keep the cup firmly in place. The stand is also fully marked and is engraved with the same Crest as seen on the cup. The underside is also engraved with the retailers mark of Hunt & Roskell. The quality of each piece is exceptional, as would be expected from this Royal firm who had a crown above their maker's mark denoting their status.
Height: 3.1 inches, 7.75 cm.
Diameter of the base: 3.75 inches, 9.38 cm.
Weight: 20oz, the set.
