The Tray is of a good large size and would have been used by a footman to serve drinks. This piece stands on four cast panel feet with scroll ends. The raised oval rim is decorated with an applied reeded band and the centre is finely engraved with a shield shaped Armorial, with Crest above. This piece is in excellent condition and is very well marked on the reverse. Hester Bateman made very few trays and salvers in her workshops and they seldom appear on the market. The Arms are Crest are those as used by the Abdy family
