The Snuff Box is of curved form and the cover is beautifully, and unusually, engraved with an eagle in flight holding drapery scrolls above a cut corned cartouche engraved with a set of contemporary script initials, all on a prick dot ground. The base is engraved with the contemporary inscription "In Remembrance of WMR" surrounded by a foliate scroll frame. The box is in excellent condition and has a finely gilded, and hallmarked, interior. The smaller size leads us to conclude that this may well have been used for the use of a Lady.
Length: 1.55 inches, 3.88 cm.
