Wall mounted fir dresser by Charlotte Perriand, originating from the Les Belles Challes residence at Arc 1800.

Originally designed in 1952 for Charlotte Perriand's own apartment on rue Las Cases in Paris, this model holds a particular place within her work. Perriand also used it in her chalet at Méribel before adapting the design in 1967 for the interiors of Les Arcs. This continuity between her own living spaces and the large mountain programmes is characteristic of her approach. A solution first conceived on a domestic scale was retained, transformed and eventually incorporated into a collective project designed to accommodate thousands of residents.

The dresser is entirely made of fir. Two shaped side panels structure the piece and support the horizontal elements intended for storing tableware. Mounted on the wall, it keeps the floor clear and contributes to the highly rational organisation of space developed by Perriand for the mountain apartments.

This example comes from the Les Belles Challes residence at Arc 1800, where the model found a new application almost twenty years after its original conception for rue Las Cases.
