Rotaflex pendant light composed of a flattened round ivory shade with its ceiling canopy, France, circa 1960.
Rotaflex is an innovative plastic material made from coiled cellulose acetate threads. Lightweight and translucent, it softly diffuses the light and gives the pendant its distinctive ribbed texture. Developed in the 1950s by the Atelier de Recherche Plastique, it reflects the research into new materials led by Pierre Guariche, Joseph-André Motte and Michel Mortier.
